What to Expect When Working with Me:

I use a combined mind-body-spirit approach:
Over some 30 years I have gathered together a unique constellation of credentials and expertise that enables me to work with the women I see as whole human beings. Because my background, skills and experience cover the mind, body and spirit, I work with women in each of those areas. This is effective because that’s the reality of who we are; we are mind, body and spirit!

We talk about your past and make a plan for your future:
When you work with me to make your life more of what you want it to be we will spend some time talking about your past because that’s where so many of our beliefs about ourselves are created. But our work together won’t all be past-focused! We’ll move into the present and then onto figuring out what goals you have for your life and create a plan for achieving them.

A session will look something like this:
You’ll show up. And that’s a big deal. I’ll meet you at the door and welcome you into my front room. I’ll ask you what you want to work on (if you know that already) and then we’ll talk, share, discuss, brainstorm and then make a plan of action. Over the course of that first session we’ll discuss how you’re doing emotionally (discomfort in this area is often what moves us to seek support and change). We’ll talk about how you’re doing physically and discuss ways we can address feeling better (often just paying attention to your breath helps a person compassionately connect to themselves and the present moment). Lastly, we’ll have a conversation about the big, beautiful, amazing topic of spirituality and we’ll explore how that may be a part of your life as well. This whole process is unique to you and customizable so that the end result fits you and your life. Expect a lively, interesting conversation that will lead us toward getting the results you want.

Then what?
Together we’ll decide what goal you want to tackle first, create some steps to achieve it and then a first step or two to zero in on before our next session. The next time we meet we’ll talk about your progress regarding those steps. This process is how we work together. It’s part talking/listening and part strategic planning and part getting things done!

Learning to love your Self is a spiritual calling.
— Nancy Hong

My Background

I grew up and have lived in South Dakota and Minnesota, where I developed a life-long love of animals, nature, dance and yoga. I’ve worked as a pastor, practiced counseling in various settings, have my own yoga studio (www.OrganicYogaCo.com) and, most recently, worked in the women’s unit at a residential treatment center as a spiritual advisor, pastoral counselor and as a meditation and yoga teacher. There my focus is on supporting women in their growing self-awareness and exploration of personal identity, nurturing their emotional healing—including from guilt and shame--motivating the work of their transformation process, and assisting in their exploration of spiritual practices and beliefs. And now, at this point in my journey, I’ve come to the realization that Self-love is the heart of it all—for me personally as well as being the heart of my work.

I’m a passionate advocate for women, encouraging and challenging them, as well as being 100% on their side as they figure out themselves and their lives. I work with women to support their process of gaining insight and creating change so that they can get on with living their best life!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure…. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.… We are all meant to shine, as children do…. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
